Abstract Background Medicinal plants have been the mainstay for treatment of various diseases since antiquity. The importance ethnomedicinal in drug discovery and development can never be overemphasized. Breonadia salicina (Vahl) Hepper J.R.I.Wood (Rubiaceae) is a medium to large plant that widely distributed tropical subtropical regions; leaf, stem bark, root used folk medicine cancer, arthritis, inflammation, wound infections, fever, diarrhoea, vomiting. Studies showed contains several phytochemical compounds, some which were isolated their pure form from parts plant. compounds include ursolic acid, α-amyrin, stigmasterol, sitosterol. متن کاملAntibacterial activity of leaf extract of Breonadia salicina (Rubiaceae), an endangered medicinal plant of Saudi Arabia.
Wild plants can contain bioactive compounds with potential activity against disease-causing microorganisms. In the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, there are many plant species that may have antibacterial, antifungal, or antiviral activities, among other properties. We extracted bioactive compounds with methanol as well as with water from leaves of Breonadia salicina, which is an endangered plant found...

Background and objectives: Salvia suffruticosa is a perennial plant from Lamiaceae family. Many Salvia species have been employed as medicinal plants; despite the medicinal potentials of S. suffruticosa, there is limited studies regarding its phytochemical profile or biological properties. The aim of the present study was to investigate the chemical c...
متن کاملIsolation of antifungal compounds from leaves of Breonadia salicina
Plant extracts may contain highly polar and/or highly non-polar substances which can interfere with the separation of pure compounds during isolation if they are present in a very high concentration. Commonly known examples of polar substances are carbohydrates, glycosides and amino acids, while non-polar substances include waxes, oils, sterols and chlorophylls (Klejdus et al. 1999). Preliminar...
